ABOUT US.....

  • Tom, Darlene and their three daughters, Nicole, Terri, and Rae-Ann, own and operate an equine ranch located 4 miles east and 2 1/2 miles north of Birtle, Manitoba, Canada

  • The farm was originally owned by Tom's parents, Wilfred and Ethel Lane who were dairy farmers. Tom started in the PMU industry in 1985. The dairy barn that was rented from his parents, was transformed to house the mares. In 1991, the farm was purchased from Tom's parents and one new barn was built. In 1998, a second barn was added, and the original dairy barn is now used for the show stock.

  • The original herd purchased in 1985 were registered Belgians, which have, over the years, been built to 150 registered Belgian horses.

  • 110 - 115 mares are bred each year to produce quality and sound colts every spring.

  • The Lane family take pride in being able to produce and exhibit quality Belgian horses. They have been actively showing since the late 1980's. They attend 4 - 5 summer shows each year, as well as attending the Canadian Western Agribition in Regina, Saskatchewan in late fall, and the Royal Manitoba Winter Fair in Brandon, Manitoba in early spring. Since the inception of draft horse futurities 5 - 6 years ago, the Lanes also actively participate in these programs, to help promote the draft horse industry in Western Canada.
