The farm was originally owned by Tom's parents, Wilfred and Ethel Lane who were dairy farmers. Tom started in the PMU industry in 1985. The dairy barn that was rented from his parents, was transformed to house the mares. In 1991, the farm was purchased from Tom's parents and one new barn was built. In 1998, a second barn was added, and the original dairy barn is now used for the show stock.
The original herd purchased in 1985 were registered Belgians, which have, over the years, been built to 150 registered Belgian horses.
The Lane family takes pride in being able to produce and exhibit quality Belgian horses. They have been actively showing since the late 1980's. They show their hitch in Manitoba in summer and early spring. Since the inception of draft horse futurities 5 - 6 years ago, the Lanes also participate in these programs, to help promote the draft horse industry in Western Canada.
At Creek Side, we breed for quality Belgian horses that exude type and presence to make hitch prospects, as well as excellent breeding stock.
We look forward to future business, visitors are always welcome!
